Primrose Skirt: Buckaroo Bobbins |
During the 1890's, Suffragettes were stepping out into a new era of freedom for women. Interestingly, it was not until the passage of the 19th Amendment (after the Republicans regained control of Congress in 1919) that women were given the right to vote. Until that time the Amendment was defeated four times by the Senate Democrats. In the 1890's, bustles were out and skirts were becoming more practical. These new designs allowed for more freedom of movement for such activities as golf, badmitton, croquet, and political activism. The 1890's Primrose Skirt is of a slimmer fit and accommodates two petticoats instead of the usual five (or more) worn in earlier times. Modest in length so as not to show the ankles, it is a seven gore skirt with a deep pleat in the back and a button placket closing. Each pattern package includes sizes 2 to 22 and both plain and pleated hem versions. Normally sold for $11.95 Save 20%
